Victoria Bellinger Sculpture

Sculpture of Victoria Bellinger

Ceramic and mixed media sculptures, mainly of faces and heads, expressing views of humanity, in all its its humor and pain. The clay sculpture of this artist is  often whimsical, frequently colorful, and sometimes combined with found objects and other materials.

Victoria Bellinger is a quintessential New Yorker. Born in Brooklyn, she is one of those rare peple who has lived in every one of the five Boroughs. She holds a BA in Art from Queens College, and an MS in Art Education from Hunter College and currently lives in Staten Island.

Trained first as a painter, she has illustrated roughly 40 children’s books, under the name Victoria de Larrea. She studied sculpture privately with Clement Meadmore and, later, ceramics with Susan Peterson and others at Hunter College. She has been working in ceramics and mixed media for more than 20 years.

Victoria has exhibited her sculpture in several galleries in Manhattan and Staten Island, and is a member of the Staten Island group Friends of Fire.

Artist’s Statement

At this time in my life I am a sculptor in clay. My subject is human nature, in all its humor and pain. I form clay into faces and heads which, when painted, glazed, fired, and otherwise embellished, express, I hope, something of what it is to be human.

Inquiries about my art including purchase, arranging an exhibition, or gallery representation are welcomed
